The long awaited Manny Pacquiao vs Joshua Clottey big fight is drawing closer in date with only less than a month to go. Will you be watching it live or on pay-per-view?
Pacquiao will be fighting Clottey at Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington Texas on Saturday, March 13, 2010. It is Manny Pacquiao's first fight in the year 2010 after negotiations of a bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr fell through. Mayweather insisted that Pacquiao go through a series of drug testing protocol, which he refused. Even after going through two days of mediation meetings with a retired federal judge, there was no conclusion and the Manny Pacquiao team sealed a fight with Joshua Clottey instead.
Joshua Clottey, is a welterweight boxer from Ghana. He is also the former IBF Welterweight champion. He has fought 39 matches, with 35 wins, 20 which were wins by KO. Joshua Clottey has never lost via a knock out. His 3 losses were respectively a DQ loss from Carlos Baldomir, an unanimous decision loss to Antonio Margarito and a split decision loss to Miguel Cotto.
Manny Pacquiao, comes from the Philippines and has been hailed the number one pound-for-pound boxer in the world. He is the first boxer in history to win seven world titles in seven different weight divisions. Among his wins include the current WBO World welterweight champion, Ring Magazine light welterweight champion, the former WBC World lightweight champion and WBC World super featherweight champion.
On November 14, 2009, Pacquiao defeated Miguel Cotto via technical knockout in the twelfth round, at the MGM Grand Las Vegas. Pacquiao dominated the fight, knocking Cotto down in round three and round four, before the referee stopped the fight at round twelve. Following this fight, there was a huge demand for Pacquiao to fight Mayweather Jr which didn't come through, although chances are, it might still happen later in the year.
The Pacquiao Clottey fight on March 13, 2010, is named "The Event" and will be airing live worldwide. It is a big event for Dallas Cowboys Stadium, and can seat more than 40,000 fans. In the first three hours of public tickets sales, more than 20,000 tickets were snapped up.
