Here is a look at the two NFC playoff matchups in the Wild Card Round.
Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys
A playoff game between division rivals is usually a good game to get NFL playoff tickets to see. This matchup also has additional intrigue, as these two teams faced off for the NFC East title in the final game of the regular season. Dallas dominated in that contest, though, shutting out Philly by a score of 24-0. The Eagles have to play back-to-back games in the new Cowboys Stadium, which certainly isn't easy.
Dallas' running game has been coming on strong as of late, thanks in great part to the production of Felix Jones. Dallas has finally started giving the electric runner more carries and it's paying dividends. Jones brings a homerun element to the Cowboys' running game and is constantly a threat to go the distance when the ball is in his hands. He and Marion Barber complement one another very well with their brand of a thunder and lightning ground attack. As far as the passing game goes, Tony Romo had a very good regular season and the emergence of Miles Austin has easily made up for the loss of Terrell Owens.
Philadelphia laid an egg in Week 17, and there's no way around it. They've got to rebound and they've got to do it fast if they don't want their season to go down the drain. This Eagles team has looked unstoppable at times this season, but their offense depends on some very young players, which will result in some inconsistencies. They need to get their vertical passing game on track and blitz the heck out of Tony Romo to try to force him into making some risky throws.
Green Bay Packers at Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals have backed their way into the playoffs yet again, ending the season with several largely unimpressive performances. Last postseason taught us that this is a team that can get hot at a moment's notice, though, so they should not be taken lightly. Kurt Warner is capable of putting up a huge game any time he's on the field, and the Cards certainly have a dynamic offense. If they can get Beanie Wells rolling on the ground, it's going to be a long day for the Green Bay defense.
It's that Green Bay defense that could be the difference-maker in this game. The team struggled on the defensive side of the ball early in the season, as the unit was still acclimating to the switch from a 4-3 scheme to a 3-4. Coordinator Dom Capers has schooled this bunch well since and the defensive personnel really seems to be grasping his concepts.
Linebacker Clay Matthews was a contender for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award this season and looks like a stud player. If this defense can slow down the Cards, the Packers should have the offense to outscore Arizona. Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers is one of the best signal callers in the league and doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who will be rattled in his first playoff appearance. I like his poise and his guts. If the offensive line can keep him upright, this offensive unit is going to be difficult to slow down.
